Joan of Arc

Hello out there! It's been a long time since I have posted. I have finished my first year at Ringling, enjoyed a wonderful summer, and now I am back in Sarasota for my sophomore year :D This is a piece I did for one of my dearest friends. Inspired by Joan of Arc, it is painted with acrylics on 8.5"x11" bristol paper. More yummy art goodness to come soon :)

Digital still life

So, it is a known fact that I hate drawing on my Wacom Intuos tablet! There is such a disconnect between the pen and the screen that it's hard for me to control my drawings. Anyways, we had to do a quick still life in class and I wouldn't have enough time to do it traditionally, so I had to suck it up and pull out my tablet. I'm a bit rusty, but here is my still life. It's not as rendered as I would like it to be, but over all, I'm happy with it. I think most people in my class were impressed because I always work traditionally. They probably just assumed I wouldn't know how to use photoshop!

Welcome Back!!

HELLO!!! Yay for 2016 :D It is the start of a new year and the beginning of new inspirations. I am back at Ringling College after a wonderful winter break; I was home in San Diego for about a month. It was so nice to see friends, family, and my lovable pets. I already miss home, but this semester promises new and exciting hurdles to overcome. So, to kick off the New Year and my second semester, I painter a mini Alice. I made this as a surprise for someone, I hope she likes it :) It's been awhile since I've done a mini painting, so there were a few technical challenges. The painting its self is about 2" wide and 2.5" high. She is painted with gouache and mounted on a piece of 4"x4" bristol paper.
